Abstract

Farmers Terms of Trade (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
  • NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange power (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
  • Kalimantan Tengah's combined NTP in May 2023 fell by 3.50 percent compared to April 2023, namely from 123.30 to 118.98. This decline was caused by the fall in the exchange rate in several sub-sectors, namely smallholder plantation crops (5.44 percent), fisheries (1.37 percent), and livestock (1.05 percent). Meanwhile, food crops and horticulture experienced an increase in exchange rates, respectively by 0.22 percent and 0.16 percent.
  • In May 2023 there was an increase in the Household Consumption Index (IKRT) in Kalimantan Tengah by 0.80 percent which was mainly due to an increase in the price index for the food, beverage and tobacco group (1.24 percent), equipment, tools and routine household maintenance ( 0.36 percent) and the recreation, sports and culture group (0.20 percent).
  • Similar to the NTP, the Kalimantan Tengah Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) in May 2023 also decreased by 2.94 percent, from 123.62 (April 2023) to 119.99 (May 2023).
